The Sheil Funeral and Cremation Service, located at 11924 E. 47th St., Kansas City, Missouri, was opened in 1957 by John P. Sheil.

The 47^th Street location was opened as an expansion of the business’s primary location in Northeast Kansas City, Missouri. Sheil made extensive upgrades and improvements to the colonial-style facility after he purchased it, including the addition of a chapel to the eastern portion of the existing structure.

In 2009, the McGilley name was added to the location in a move to combine two of the most recognized funeral provider family names in the greater Kansas City area. The funeral and cremation services provided to the families served by McGilley & Sheil are second to none.

An interesting aside about the location: The horse drawn hearse that was purchased by Mr. Sheil many years ago is still in our possession, and is used for special public events.
